Animal Farm Review – George Orwell
Animal farm is a book about an evil pig named Napoleon. Napoleon only cared about himself and the future of his kids so he decided to make up a plan. Mr. Jones (the owner of the Manor Farm) didn’t treat the animal’s right, so eventually Mr. Jones got kicked out and Napoleon got in charge of everything. He later then forced the animals to be slaves and not to disobey Napoleon.
The main characters in the book were mostly Napoleon and Snowball. A good quote from the book who I thought described snowball and Napoleon well is ‘’ I can tell you comrades, with all the brainwork we have to do nowadays. You would not rob us of our repose would you, comrades. You would not have us too tired to carry out our duties? Surely none of you wishes to see jones back? ‘’ I chose this one, because you can clearly see how napoleon made Snowball manipulate and take advantage of these animals.
The main conflict in this book is clearly about how the animals wanted to be free but Napoleon took that away, and made them believe that this is how life really works. This conflict didn’t really get resolved in the book, because at the end Napoleon was still equally as bad as Mr. Jones.
There weren’t many sub-plots in this book, because this book mostly revolved around the main conflict, but one sub-plot was how napoleon in the book killed every animal that was secretly against him.
This book isn’t set anywhere because you can compare animal farm with several other historical times that took place, such as the Russian revolution, or the time when Hitler was a leader. That’s why the where the novel was set didn’t really affect the book.
The author’s purpose on writing this book was, because he wanted to inform others who aren’t well educated in this subject, and how the world really is. This also informs us that power can do every sort of things to the human brain.
The title of this story meant that when Napoleon changed the farm from manor farm to animal farm he wanted to become more powerful, and this was also a test at the beginning for him to see where he stood at.
The authors writing weren’t something that you could easily understand, because he had a lot of hidden messages behind those sentences. ...
