Introduction
The Beatles was a very popular British pop group in the 60s.
All the members came from Liverpool in England. The group had
four members: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

How it all started
In March 1957 John started the group " The Quarry men". The same year he met Paul who became a member of the group. Paul brought George who was his friend from school. John played guitar and sang together with Paul who also played bass guitar, George played the guitar. " The Quarry Men’s" drummer varied. One of them was Pete Best. They played at different night-clubs in Hamburg and Liverpool. The group were inspired by artistes like Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly and The Everly Brothers. John and Paul started to write their own songs. Most of the songs they played was their own compositiones which was quite unusual. The name of the group changed a lot during the first year, “Johnny and The Moondogs”, The silver Beatles.1960 they decided on the name The Beatles. They were, like I said before great fans of Buddy Holly and The crickets and they also wanted a name inspired by an insect. They decided on "The Beatles", beat + beetle .
The group’s first phonograph recording, My Bonnie they did together with Tony Sheridan in 1961.

The same year The Beatles met Brian Epstein who asked them if he could be their manager. The group liked him and said yes. Brian always wanted to be a manager of a band so now his dream came true. But it’s said that the real reason why he wanted The Beatles was because he was in love with John.

Brian started searching for a record company who wanted to promote
The Beatles. He asked Decca, and got an audition. But Decca said no, the didn´t want The Beatles. After Deccas reject he called the recordproducer George Martin, who arranged a contract with Parophone. The drummer Pete Best was replaced by Ringo Starr in august 1962. The same year The Beatles had some success with Please, Please Me and Love Me Do, after that the group had their big break through with She loves you. They had their first tour abroad and the tour went to Sweden!!!
They played in some small cities, they also took part in the TV-program "Drop in".
After their first tour abroad USA wanted them to come. But the group said no. They didn´t want to come until they were number one on the hitlists. When they in 1964 reached the first place with the single I Want To Hold Your Hand, they were ready fore the big land in vest. The tour became a real success. Now the whole world wanted them. They went to Japan, Austria and the Philippines. Where ever they went they were always surrounded by crazy, wild screaming fans. Something called
"Beatlemania" appeared. It became so bad that The Beatles decided to quit touring. They gave their last concert the 29th august in 1966 at the Candlestick park in San Francisco.

Now the group could concentrate at the songwriting. They started to write a new kind of music, a mixture of classic an Asiatic music. This new music became very popular, now it wasn´t just the young people who were the fans.
1965 The Beatles where awarded the British imperieorden M.B.E (Member of British Empire).

1967 They release Sgt Peppers Lonely Heart Club band. Witch is concidered to be a milestone in pop history.
In April 1970 the group was dissolved. The members blamed Paul, they said that it was his fault that The Beatles had to split up. He played the boss in the band and the others didn´t like it.

Paul McCartney live, in Globen 5th of May 2003!!
I was there!
Me, Tove, my mother, her friend Inger and my little sister, we were there and heard him live. It was almost impossible to get tickets but we managed. We got stuck in a traffic jam near Globen and almost missed the concert. We left mum in the car and ran to the entrance and up the stairs to the 7th floor where we had our seats. What a feeling when Paul came in, I just screamed and felt the tears coming. He started with one of my favourite songs “ Hello, Good Bye” then he played non stop for two and a half hours and it was just fantastic. (Mum managed to find a parking place and missed only the beginning of the first tune).
