I never promised you a rose garden

Hannah Green was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, she liked literary already as a child, and began working as a writer at an early age. She moved to New York in 1961. The early history of her family became the subject of her first book, The Dead of the House (1973). It was a carefully wrought work which took her over 10 years to complete. In 1971 she married the artist, John Wesley, with whom she regularly spent summers in France. This resulted in the publication of a children’s book, In the City of Paris (1985). On a visit to the village of Conques, she was inspired by the story of the child martyr, Saint Foy, which became the subject of Little Saint (2000), published after her dead by Random House. It have been very hard finding facts about her, it seems that Hannah Green just is a pseudonym. Or maybe it´s only I never promised you a rose garden (1956) that´s written under the pseudonym, and that the other books are written by the "reel" Hannah Green.

SYNOPSIS
This is a gripping drama about a schizophrenic teenager´s struggle to cope with her mental illness. Deborah is born in 1932, and is sixteen years old when her loving parents desides to put her in a mental hospital. It is when they find her with her wrists cut that they realise that something is wrong.

Deborah Blau fights inner demons that manifest themselves as visual hallucinations, and attempts suicide as an escape. After a stay in a mental hospital, and with the help of a caring psychiatrist, Deborah is eventually able to control her condition.

Often we underestimate the power of our own minds and it´s capabilities. I Never Promised You a Rose Garden breaks all barriers and plummets you into the world of the mentally ill.
