The history of Judo
A man called Jigoro Kano started judo in the 19th century. But it did not become a sport until 20th century. In the 19th century jujutsu had a really bad reputation, and a lot of schools disappeared. The purpose of creating judo was to keep the different techniques of jujutsu and at the same time creating a harmless martial art. And that is also why judo I called judo because in Japanese it means “the soft way of fighting”.
What is Judo?
Judo is since the Olympics in 1964 an Olympic sport. Judo can also be called pyjama wrestling, because that is exactly was it is. Unlike all other martial art judo is based on grips in the suit. Throws and falls are also a big part of Judo. The starting point of the sport is called wasari, witch is when you have you and your opponent have your right leg forward and your left leg back, and your right hand on the collar, and your left hand on the sleeve …then the judge say “yetimê!” and you start wrestling, But there is certain rules, for example, you can never kick, hit or/and bite anybody and you can never bad mouth or scream as an distraction. There is two different ways to wrestle on, one is randori, witch means standing up and “nevas” and that is just like randori except your’re wrestling an your knees. One training session contains:

• Form (Kata)
