The orangutan is a very smart animal that has ability to
think like a human. The orangutan is a mammal and are
a close relative to us with 97% same of the DNA.
It’s a big grate red hairy ape. Some males can weight up
to 90 kilo, or even more! The female is 1/2, 1/3 to the males size.
The males can be 1,5 meter long and the female
12-38 centimetres lesser. The orangutan eats bark,
fruit, leaves, insects, ferns and bird eggs, but
not always. The females have 4-5 to five babies in a lifetime,
and they are on of the nature’s most gentle mothers.
The lifespan of an orangutan is about 35-40 year.


The orangutan live in the rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra
which are islands of Indonesia. They live on the tops of the
trees, and they build nests up in there. The areas they
live in is swampy or mountain. It’s safest for them to have
their home at the treetops because they are protected from
threats up there. Mostly of their food is on the treetops,
and that’s also an reason to live up there. They build their
nests out of leaves and branches.




The orangutan is an endangered animal,
and is threatened to extinction. There are many people
who hunts the orangutans for fun and food, souvenirs (skulls),
and many other reasons. It’s illegally to do that and it gives prison.
The biggest threat comes from the human like I said before.
The habitat is also in danger because the people
wants the valuable trees in the rainforests.



There are many conservations and zoos for the orangutan
in the world. Many people want to help the orangutans
from the extinction. They have organisations who want
the best for the these grate animals. The orangutans has
a much better life in captivity because they are not threatened
