I knew a hero. She lived a long time ago. This woman was married to a man who was an alcoholic. They had four children together.
At the first part of their life together they didn’t have any money, not even to bye food to the children. An incident one evening almost turned out in a catastrophe. They only had two children at that time of the incident, two boys, the boys hadn’t got any food that day. Their mother went to her mother and loaned some money, and went to the man in the corner who sold hot dogs. One of the boys, the smallest one, was so hungry that he threw himself over the sausage and it nearly suffocated him.
The years went bye and the women got a divorce from the man. All four children were born at that time, three boys and one girl. One of the boys repeatedly got into trouble with the law, and was put in foster care when he was eleven years old. The woman felt worthless, she hadn’t been able to hold the marriage together, and now not even been able to race her own child. It must had been a real defeat for her.
The boy who was in foster care, went from one foster home to another. When he was twenty three he died of an aneurysm in the brain after an overdose amphetamine. The women struggled on and after a few years she met a new man and they got a daughter together. Here life went on a little bit happier. But one day when she brushed her teeth she coughed up blood. The doctor she went to told her that it was an aggressive lung cancer and now her whole life felled apart. She had children who still were small, the youngest only six years old and the other one fourteen. She was a real fighter, and she didn’t give up until that she knew that they were good taking care of.
