Once upon a time there was a boy named Vlademir. He lived in Russia with his father and he absolutely loved to sing, he sang every day in and out.
One day his father took him to the village market to sing to the crowd for money. As always the crowd loved Vlademir, and they where happy to drop a few coins in the hat that his father carried around. But suddenly Vlademir froze, he had spotted a beautiful girl standing towards him smiling. She wasn’t like any other girl; she had exotic clothes and wonderful black and shiny hair that anyone would die for. His father grabbed him in his arm.
- Why are you stopping? The royal family is standing right before you and you STOP? SING!
Vlademir looked as his father and started singing again and at the same time he looked out over the crowd, searching with his eyes for the beautiful girl. But she wasn’t there? Where had she gone? Briefly he saw her dress going around the corner. Vlademir couldn’t hold himself any more. He ran after her, hearing his father’s voice screaming after him. But he didn’t care. All he wanted was to see her just one more time. Vlademir was a good runner, so he quickly ran up beside the girl.
-STOP! What’s your name? He grabbed her and forced her to stop.
-Let me go! Not that it’s any of your business, but my name is Jasmine and my father is the tsar of Russia, so bug of! And that’s an order. Vlademir let go of her arm and stepped backwards. Blessed by his fathers charming genes he said:
-I’m sorry, but you are the most beautiful girl I ever seen! I just couldn’t let you run of not knowing your name.
-That’s sweet of you to say. But it could never happen anything between us. I’m the tsars daughter and you are just a boy, begging for money on the street. But soon that will change. I ran away because I want to live as an ordinary girl in Russia, not followed by servants every where I go! They even follow me in to the bathroom you know! Dad doesn’t let me be alone.
But she didn’t get any further, her father and his men came around the corner Vlademir and Jasmine had just past.
-Oh there you are you silly girl! Trying to play hide and seek with me not knowing that where actually playing again? And what are you doing with that boy? But isn’t that.. Yes it is! I was just looking for you boy. I heard you singing on the market and thought that you might want to sing at the palace one day? You’re a real talent. And if you sing perfectly I will see that you sing for me and Jasmine every day at the castle. Of course you and your father would have to live there. But maybe that’s OK?
-YES! That’s perfectly fine by me. Vladimir’s father Igor had come after the tsar around the corner. This is what we’ve been waiting for Vlademir. Igor tapped his shoulder and smiled big for the tsar and whispered to Vlademir that he should do the same.
It didn’t take long for Vlademir and the others to get to the palace. The palace was magnificent, but the only thing Vlademir could think about was to see Jasmine again. Every day for two months Vlademir sang in front of the tsar and his friends. And every night he and Jasmine saw each other in the hallways and sneaked in to the closet kissing.
But one day a man who where visiting the tsar and joined him for dinner, heard Vlademir’s voice and loved it. He said to Vlademir’s father Igor that he had a job for Vlademir in London, England. The man worked as a manager in London, and his name was Charles. Of course Igor said yes immediately, but he didn’t want to tell Vlademir until the evening was over.
-WHAT? I don’t want to leave Russia! Vlademir screamed to his father when Igor had explained to him exactly what Charles had told him earlier.
-Ha! You just don’t want to leave Jasmine! Yes.. I know what you two have been doing late at night. I’m not stupid you know. It’s so obvious and I can’t see how the tsar hasn’t realised that his daughter isn’t as innocent as he thinks. Now, we are going to England weather you want it or not. And you can forget all about that Jasmine right away.
Jasmine was waiting for Vlademir in the hall. She was devastated when Vlademir said that he was going to London. They kissed for a short while and the last thing Jasmine said to him was: “I will always be waiting for you”.
Igor didn’t want to lose any precious time, so he and Vlademir left for London that night.
As soon as they arrived, they went to the royal opera. Vlademir got his own manager called Phil, and they became really close friends. Phil and Vlademir often talked about the old days with Jasmine. Vlademir expressed how much he loved her and missed her.
Six months later Vlademir sang at the opera like he always did, but after the show he talked with Phil. They sat in the sofa behind the scene and Phil had a mysterious smile.
-What’s going on? Vlademir asked. You look so satisfied.
Phil put his hand in his pocket and pulled out one odd looking paper, there was something written on it.
-What’s that? Is that a ticket? For who?
-Oh, I’m so tired of seeing you suffer. You’re going to Russia my boy.
-Oh Phil, you’re the greatest! But…no, my father wouldn’t aloud that. Phil, I just hate him. I know I’m not supposed to say this but I really do. He has ruined my life.
-Come on boy, cheer up a little bit. I know that you and you’re father aren’t so close, but I have planned this you see. I’m picking you up around twelve o ‘clock this night, so make sure your bags are packed. Then I’m driving you to the airport and off you go!
Vlademir woke up about eleven when his clock rang. He had the clock under his pillow so his father wouldn’t hear it. He slowly pulled down the cover and grabbed his passport, wallet and the letter that Jasmine sent him in the beginning when he had only been to London for a few days, out of his pillowcase. Then he took the pre-packed suitcase from under the bed. He had already dressed and worn his clothes when he slept earlier. Just as he had said Phil was standing outside his window waiting with the car. The journey didn’t take that long and Vlademir was in Russia in no time. Vlademir who knew the city as the back of his hand soon got to the market were Jasmine and he had met for the first time.
- Oh, please god let me just find someone who can take me to the palace, Vlademir said as a cry for help when all of the money he had brought from London was gone and he had no place to go but the palace. It was a long way to Jasmine’s father’s palace and to cold outside for him to walk.
- Excuse me, but I couldn’t help hearing you asking god for a ride to the palace, a man said. And I might just be that person who could do that for you. You see..
Vlademir didn’t even let the man finish his sentence before he hugged the man roughly. The man and Vlademir talked for a while and the man introduced him self as Dimitri and that he was the tsar’s personal chef. They got in to Dimitri’s car and drove to the palace. Vlademir explained who he was and why he had to get to the palace. Then the chocking news came, Jasmine was to be married to the prince of England! Vlademir froze. How could this happen? He was the only man in the world to her, she had written so herself in her letter. But Vlademir still wanted to see Jasmine, even if she was to marry an English bastard, in cording to him that is. When they got to the kitchen door Vlademir ran as fast as he could up to Jasmine’s bedroom door. He knocked on the door one time and then slammed it open; there she was coming her beautiful black and shiny hair. She turned around.
- Vlademir! Jasmine screamed in a tone of happiness. What are you doing here? She smiled, ran towards him and rapped her arms around his neck.
- I travelled here to see you, but then I hear you are to be married. Is that true? Vlademir looked pretty anxious.
- Well yes, but you’re not planning to judge me are you? You have done the same! I got your letter with that invitation to you and Ann Miller’s wedding. You said you were as happy as...
