The main character in this interesting and very exciting film is Victor Frankenstein. The film describes his life, growth, and also his greatest invention in his intire life, a monster sticked together by parts of different people's bodies. But that's not all the film is about. In the middle of it we can also notice a romantic story, unfortunately a pretty tragical one, between Victor and his lovely wife Elisabeth. Elisabeth has spent her life together with Frankenstein's family since an awful accident, in which her parents lost their lives. The movie is mixed in an excellent way of horror and romance, and this terrific mixture makes the movie much more reliable and turns it into something special.

In the beginning of the movie, we meet Capten Walton and we see him when he makes a major mistake. He is sailing with his big ship right into an ice floe. Now he and his crew are stuck in the middle of the north pole. When they are sitting there, Doctor Frankenstein finds them and Walton listens when Victor tells him the story of his life to him. Of course the story is unbelievable and not very easy to understand. Nothing Victor tells is logical or makes any sense, so it is not strange that Walton doesn't understand a thing when he hears it. It is this story we are following in the movie. The whole movie is built on what Victor tells and we are fallowing his earlier adventures, something that already has happened in his life. Then the movie begins showing the end of Doctor Frankenstein's life. This is a good and also a pretty common way to catch the interest of the spectators, to start with the end.

Among the maincharacters we find Dr Victor Frankenstein (of course). His whole life is circling around science and education. Time to have a familylife and live an ordinarie life doesn't exist. His highest dream and also his greatest task is to reach enough of knowledge to control the life. Be master of the nature and become more powerful than God. He wants to be capable to overcome harmful diseases that takes a lots of human lives. If we look at Victor in that way, he only wants good, but everything is ending up in a totaly different way. He believes through learning how the nature is working, he can finally be able to dominate over it. But this has been and will always be impossible.

If we listen to Victor's tale, his childhood in Geneva was a happy one. As a little boy he was craving for knowledge, and very early he showes a big interest for science, science that in the end leads Victor to obsession. As soon as Victor becomes an adult his work starts at the university in Ingolstadt. It is here Doctor Frankenstein for the first time meets professor Waldman. A man who would be an important part (at least in the beginning) in Victor's science. Dr Frankenstein's greatest fascination is about the way life begins. He has an idea how to create life in an artificial way, in other words not using the traditional way through birth that the nature has given us. It's how to manage this, that becomes an obsession for Frankenstein. He locks himself up and begins to work on his idea in days as well as nights. He takes parts from different dead bodies and through his skill he puts the parts together and creates a creature in shape similar to a human being. To put life into the different parts and make them work together he has a theory using electrical energy. He succeeds to lead the power from a flash in a thunderstorm into the creature and it really comes to life. But the creature looks like a monster and the people in the society don't accept him. The frustration the creature feels not to fit in anywhere makes him furious. He doesn't even has a name, and no reason to exist. Finally he takes out his revenge on Victor's family. This is something I in a way really think he deserves. Dr Frankenstein is so occupied with his work, that he ends up to be a very selfish person who doesn't think about anything more than himself and his science. He has no idea about how the creature he creates feels, and doesn't care either. Persons like Victor often get what they deserve in the end. Frankenstein understands what kind of mistakes he is making in the end of the film. And if he has been given another chance in life to correct his failures and start over, I think he would have given priority to love instead of work. Victor's creature was after all the reason to his dear one, Elisabeth's death.

In the film we can find many different messages. One of them could be that the film wants to tell us human beings that we can't control the nature! It tells us not to play gods, because it will do no good. We are created by nature, not meant to master it. "Mother nature" will always find a way out, it doesn't matter what we small humans are trying to do. If we mess with the nature, it will mess with us. Another message could be that you are not supposed to judge someone after how he or she looks. The creature Frankenstein makes has a look of a monster, but was not a monster inside, not until everyone start to judge him after the way he looks. In the film the people in the community make this terrible mistake and everything ends up in a disaster just to show us that it's not the right thing to do, judge someone after how he or she looks...

Personally I find the film interesting, and I must say that I love the messages. The film is pretty easy to understand and I like movies with an action easy to understand, then I can analyse it in a better way. The movie is also really touching in a few scenes. Sometimes I can almost feel what Frankenstein and his lovely wife Elisabeth felt. In one of the last scenes for instance, when Elisabeth dies because of the creature Frankenstein created, I can almost hear how Frankenstein`s heart tears into pieces when he sees what the monster has done to Elisabeth. In another tragically scene, after Elisabeth´s death we can see how Frankenstein in great desperation is trying to make the mist...
