Nowadays everyone talks about Internet. There have been many debates concerning weather it is good or bad. So I will now go through the positive and negative aspects of it to try to get an answer to weather the positive outweighs the negative.
Within the global society today the majority of people continuously use the internet. The internet, which at one point would have been unimaginable, has now become available to nearly every nation around the world. With the vast wealth of information that is easily accessible, there come many negative implications as well. Consequently the use of the internet brings about many positive and negative aspects. Once one has examined both the positive and negative aspects of internet usage, it can be determined as to whether the positive aspects out weighs the negative.
To begin with, the negative aspects shall be examined in greater detail. The Internet can provide society with a considerable amount of information such as claiming that the holocaust did not take place. Also pop ups are referred to as fraudulent due to the fact that lies are held within the advertisement shown. Some companies have pop ups claiming one will be rich if they fill out a form and send money away. These advertisements can more likely than not be false and the only one actually becoming rich is the company the ‘victim’ just lost their money to. Another negative aspect that presents itself with internet usage is worldwide chats. There have been numerous reports on the news and also in daily newspapers explaining how young girls were abducted or raped after meeting people over the open chat lines with false identities.
Another negative aspect dealing with the use of the Internet is the potential for hacking. Hacking into a computer through the Internet is used often in our everyday lives of modern societies. Email addresses can be hacked into and the hackers will get access to the one’s password and emails along with one’s contacts. Furthermore, those who fill out their personal information and send it away to advertisements can also be hacked into and all of their personal information can be stolen. Therefore, the internet is rather hazardous and is becoming used all around the world. New users are unaware of these negative aspects but these new comers will soon discover the hard way what negative implications Internet usage may bring.

Now, examining the positive aspects presented by the use of the worldwide web, it becomes apparent how fast the communication is. There are personal chat lines such as msn, which allows one to add or decline contacts to their list. Msn is used across the globe and is very fast, no matter which country it is used in. When using msn, an audio or visual conversation can be used if one has a web camera and or a microphone added to their computer. One could talk to their family or friends half way across the world and have a conversation through a microphone while watching one another. Another positive regarding Internet usage is the cost. The Internet is very cheap and has unlimited use. There are no long distance charges when using the internet while talking to people around the world. Whereas speaking over the phone could either cost a lot of money or result in people being in a rush to talk.

Another positive aspect occurs when searching the Internet for information. Many websites are readily available such as yahoo and google search engines. These sites can provide one with as much information as needed from around the world. Online banking is also a positive aspect when using the Internet. One of the newest and most frequent used options of the Internet is shopping online. People can shop online and order clothing, furniture, cosmetics etc… from countries all over the world and or their native country. The products that the consumers order will then be delivered right to their door step.
File sharing is also another positive point within the use of the internet. For example, one may be chatting with a colleague over msn chat and send a file that could be work related and have them revise it before completing it. Therefore the internet is rather easily accessible and readily available all over the globe.
