None could ever imagined that anyone had the power to achieve what Elvis became. He did everything before anyone did anything. He was born with a great talent, the fine feeling for music and it’s rhythm. He took over the world with his amazing voice and his good looking appearance. Elvis has become a historical artist and an idol for people all over the globe. He has become the king of Rock’n’Roll.
Elvis was born in 1935 the 8th of January. His father Vernon Presley married Gladys Smith and the got two baby twins, Elvis and Jessie Garon. But sadly Jessie Garon died at birth. Elvis grew up with a close relationship with his family and relatives and Elvis was surrounded with a lot of love. In late 1948 the family was forced to move because of their economical status. They packed their belongings and moved to Tennessee in Memphis. Now Elvis attended to L.C. Humes High School but also takes several jobs to help the family. After Elvis graduation in 1953 he worked as a truckdriver for a few months.

When his mother turned 41 in 1953 he thought he should give her a special birthday present. He saw a sign outside the Sun Studios that said: “Make your own records for only 2$ for 4 songs”. So he decided to go in there and he recorded “That’s when your heartache begins” and “My Happiness” for his beloved mother. Sam Philips who was the owner of Sun Studios thought Elvis was very good and he was already looking for a white artist that could sing like a negro and had a fine R’n’B feeling just like Elvis. Sam Philips booked him and soon his carrier would take of. He made a few songs with Sun Studios but he was popular in the music business so now RCA wanted him, and he signed a 400 000$ contract with them including a 5 000$ bonus for Elvis himself. Elvis was the hottest new star in business. Two days after his twenty-first birthday he recorded “Heartbreak Hotel” among others, with RCA that would change the history of Rock’n’Roll.

Now Elvis starts appearing in many TV-shows, such as “The Steve Allen Show” on NBC and “The Milton Berle Show”. He also shoots his first movie “Love Me Tender” that had premier at the theatres in 1956. As Elvis career and huge popularity keeps on going high his mother becomes ill and she dies in 1958 only 46 years old. Elvis was devastated. Late the same year Elvis boards a troop train to New York then boards the USS. He visits Germany and realises that the fans in Europe is as enthusiastic as the fans in America. After a time in Europe of serving the US as any other GI servant, Elvis returns to America continuing with his music and movie career.

After a pile of new songs that toped the USA list and some movies that also became big in the theatres he and Pricilla Beaulieu got married in a church in Las Vegas. He met Pricilla down in Germany and fell madly in love with her. In February the first in 1968 Pricilla gave birth to Lisa Marie and it was a time of great happiness. Elvis took a break from the music but came back with a live performance in 1968 with songs as “Hound Dog” and “Jailhouse Rock” The people loved him and he was greater now then ever before. Rockwriter Greil Marcus described it like this: “It was the finest music of his life. If ever there was music that bleeds, this was it”.
Elvis had been doing his entire recording in Nashville or Hollywood but now he would return to Memphis again and that would result in two new albums. Elvis is booked for shows in Las Vegas and later the same year his thirtieth and last movie opens in theatres, “Change of Habit”. He continues with the shows in Las Vegas and on the same time he manages to do recordings in studios and realises many singles and albums. Elvis wins a lot of prices for his achievements as an artist and now he was finishing his tour in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1972. The marriage with the twelve-year-old younger Pricilla was not working. They separated and got the divorce in 1973. But that was not the only thing that wasn’t well. Elvis health got worse under these years. He had trouble with his weight and was hospitalised in 1975. It didn’t stop him from making music though. He followed up with tours around the world and he played in Las Vegas for the last time in 1976. Elvis was preparing for a tour in Portland in his home in Graceland. Later that same mornin...
