I would place this film in the thriller category, and also the drama category. It got the both of those worlds.
Derek and Danny are two brothers who see their father past away in a shooting drama with black people involved. The sorrow and the hate of the fathers’ death take over Derek, and he becomes an active member of the new Nazi-buisness, in there Derek gets a high grade in the business very fast. His little brother Danny follows his trace.
But after one more shooting drama, when Derek kills two black boys, he ends up in prison.
During Derek’s prison-stay he realizes that he had chosen the wrong way, and when he, after tree years, sets free he wants to save his brother from the business.
It is too late, a black boy in school murder Danny with a gun just after Derek’s realize.
Derek is a strong and stubborn person. He acts fair and like a father-figure after his own fathers death and after his realize from prison.
Danny do everything that Derek does, he really look up to him. Danny is not as valiant as Derek is and Danny got the knowledge and the power to express himself in writing.
Their father is important in the film because it was him who started the whole thing. The whole movie depends on him, his death and his acts. Of course Derek had inherited his father’s interest of the new Nazi, but after the fathers death he got crazy about it. I think he would have been a little bit calmer if his father was alive.
The film is set in a calm-house-street with many families of children. The film would not have been the same if it had been acted in a big grey block of flats in the middle of the city. I think it is just to strengthen the feeling:”Oh, it could even happen in my home street”. The directors thoughts with the film is that this could happen every were, when you least expect it.
The ending was much unexpected. I did not in my wildest imagination thought Danny would be killed. That’s because I see films with happy endings most of the time, it is so much funnier then.
I have never seen a film like this, so profitable, so moving, so important to see and learn. This film I balancing between youth films and adult films, which make it very exciting. This film has succeed with capture both young and old public, and done something good for the society at the same time. This film got me thinking to not forget that life is short, that I have to take care of it before it is too late and do the b...
