The Nobel Prize is a thing that everybody knows something about. But what is behind the name the Nobel Prize. Many people dedicate their whole life to get a Nobel Prize. Somebody gets it somebody does not. But why, it is all about a fancy dinner, beautiful dresses and very much money. What is truly behind it?

Since the foundation in 1901 has the Prize been given to 102 people that have written something good, very special and characterized, but only to ten women. That is like 10 % is women. The winner receives a diploma, a medal and a document certifying the prize amount. The prize amount is 10 million crowns. His Majesty the King distributes the prize in Stockholm on December 10.
So I think that the Nobel Prize in literature is not a good thing.

For the first is it very discriminated for women. That not more women have been given it is so strange. If you asks any person who they favourite writer is most of them would answer a women. If you then go to a library most of the books are written by female writers.
Professors and people that ”know” a lot about literature they do not ask any normal people when they give the nomination. Like you and I no we have nothing to say about the matter. That is totally not fair. But if it would then all people around the world would need to vote, that could be very hard to do. That why there should not be any prize because it is not very undemocratic.
A human being that is equal to any one of the six billions on the entire planet, gets ten millions crowns that could been given to the Third World and been used to give food to starving children or clean water to everybody.
In Alfred Nobel’s will, and I quote: “the capital, invested in safe securities by my executors, shall constitute a fund, the interest on which shall be annually distributed in the form of prizes to those who, during the preceding year, shall have conferred the greatest benefit on mankind“ and “one part to the person who shall have produced in the field of literature the most outstanding work in an ideal direction”.
For the first the prize is often given to a person who is dead or has not written any new stuff in the past year. You have not seen any people who just starting writing get the Nobel Prize. No you need to be old and boring. So it is not given to the person that has written any outstanding work in that year.
Then we have the Nobel Dinner. That is every year the 10 of December. Just people that have high standard are invited. Like princess and kings and all Nobel Prize winners are welcome. It should be open to everyone who wants to go.

That is why I do not think that the Nobel Prize in any meaning is a good thing...
