A lot of things about William and his life aren’t certain but I will do my best to find facts and the first thing I’m going to do is to write some facts about his family and childhood.
John Shakespeare was Williams Father. He was born in 1529 and he died 1601.
His mother was Mary Arden. She was born in 1537 and died the 9th of September, 1608.
William himself was born 1564 in Stratford-on-Avon. He had seven brothers and sisters. You don’t really know when he started school but he quit school when he was eleven years old, and it is also said that William worked as a teacher for a year. In school he studied a lot of Latin.
When he was 18 he married Anne Hathaway and they had 3 children, Susanna who was born a year after the wedding and two twins, Hamnet and Judith.
William wrote a lot of plays and the most famous are “Hamlet” and “Romeo and Juliet”. He did also write plays like “A midsummer nights dream” and many other dramas and comedies.
Now I will tell you a little about the balcony scene in Romeo and Juliet because it’s one of the most famous scenes in the world of theatre.
In the scene, Romeo (who is one of the main characters) stands under Juliets balcony and talks about how beautiful she is and how much he loves her voice. After a while Juliet comes down to Romeo and they’re having a romantic time together.
In 1599 William and his company build a theatre called “The Globe”, but in 1613 the roof set fire and in 1644 it was completely destroyed.
