Mr. Greenleaf think that it is better as Tom is more in Dickies age and a natural standing person. So Tom got a free trip to Europe and lots of money to at least try to complete this mission. He thinks that perhaps he can start over and become rich and famous so he gives it a shot.
He goes to Italy and met Dickie Greenleaf and his girlfriend Marge. Tom and Dickie start to hang out and become very good friends, tom actually live at Dickies house.
They start to plan trips and things they will do together and really looking forward too all of that, until one day when Dickie tells Tom that he doesn’t want him to come with him and Marge to Cortina and that’s it Tom get furious and starts to plan how he would do to get rid of Dickie and take his spot instead of him. On one trip, that they finally make they rent a boat and at the sea Tom beat Dickie up with a oar, and get rid of all the evidence that could lead to him. He tells Marge that Dickie has moved and didn’t want her with him right now, but that he would write to her everyday. Tom starts to live under the name Dickie Greenleaf.
One day the police finds out that Dickie is missing and start to ask Tom out, he manage to make the police believe that he had nothing to do with his missing, but Marge doesn’t. Now he think that he can live in happiness, but it all turns out the other way. Even though he finds his disposition and find a boy that loves him and I guess he loves him too.
This person Mr. Tom Ripley is a very talented person as you can understand from the title and he has a lot of talent in music, science, history and math he was very good in school. You can’t imagine that this kind and gentle person would plan to ruin a family both from money and their only and loved son.
That’s rather absorb to just have the thought that he would do something like that. You can probably figured it out if the person were some kind of a psycho or something but he doesn’t show any sign of that . Anyway how he figure out how he can at first live on Dickies money and then get rid of him is rather intelligent of him. He plans everything just perfect how he should act, and what he’s going to say to Marge to sound through worthy. But there’s always something he haven’t thought of that he must make sure doesn’t lead to him and he always manage it at someway. That’s something that makes the story thrilling, would he manage it or would they get him?
Finally I guess he doesn’t manage to live that way. Every night he has nightmares about Dickie that he might have survived and is coming after him. But he doesn’t regret it anyway he felt more good about the murder on Dickie. I think Tom was a person that must feel that he’s loved by everyone that he like.
I think the book was a good book but it was a little boring in the beginning when you haven’t really get into the story. But when he starts to plan everything and you start to figure out that something’s going to happen you get more thrilled about keep on reading to find out how things going to end up. I must say that the book gives you a picture how ...
