The masacre in Littleton, Colorado

On April 20th 1999 the little town Littleton, Colorado, was on the news. Unfortunatley it wasn’t for a good thing. It was said that two students on Columbine High School in Littleton, outside Denver, had killed 12 students and 1 teacher and then afterwards, killing themselves. This was one of the worst events in the American school history.

The boys, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, had planned this thing for a long time. They even gave one of their closest friend a chance to survive. The day before the shooting they told Brooks Brown not to come to the school, but they never told him why…

About an hour before noon on Thursday the 20th April Eric and Dylan arrived at school. They were armed with a semiautomatic rifle, two sawed-off shutguns, a semi-automatic handgun and a lot of bombs, made by them selves. As they were approaching the main entrance of the school they opened fire. They shot a female student, who died instantly. Panic broke out and students were running all over the schoolyard. The two boys also shot another student in the back just in front of the entrance and unfortunatley his life couldn’t be rescued.

They entered the school. The entrance led to the cafeteria where a lot of students and adults were gathered, shocked by what they just had seen through the windows. Eric and Dylan opened fire again and threw some bombs over the place. Everyone in the cafeteria hit the floor or ran away and noone was killed here.

They left the cafeteria and went upstairs to the upper level. Upstaris the school police officer, Neil Gardner, waited and they exchanged gunfire. Neil Gardner who realised that he was outnumbered fled.

Downstairs, in the cafeteria, the people fled the school.

While student fled the school, the two boys continued their violent way through the school. When the school police officer was gone the next man to meet the two guys were a teacher. William David Sanders, who was a business teacher, saw what was happening and screamed to the other students to hide. This screaming, probably caused panic for Eric and Dylan and it resulted in shooting the teacher. When he was lying on the floor the two boys’s pulled out his wallet and took the picture of his daughters. The put it infront of his face and asked him to tell about them. The only thing he said was: ”Tell my daughters that I love them”.

The shots weren’t directly mortal and the teacher managed to rescue himself into a room. Some students pulled Mr. Sanders into a room. Those students saw the teacher die in that room.

Eric and Dylan finally went into the library. They told every jock’s to stand up. After that there was a huge shooting that resulted in three girls and seven boys were killed. When the two boys were alone in the library they killed themselves…

This way to killing themselves costed 12 innocent people’s lives…

The witnesses to this happening will never forget this day in school. They will never forget the words from the boys either.

One of the victims were asked if she believed in God. She answered ”Yes” and in the next second she was shot.
