Imagine this, you are sitting on a bench waiting for the bus and you light up a cigarette. While you are enjoying your cigarette an elder man sits next to you coughing, the cancer-smoke coming our of your cigarette has find it’s way into his lungs and your smoking is now a hazard for everyone surrounding you.
Wouldn’t it been a lot easier to open your box of snus, take of one the small tobacco pouches and placed it under your lip?

A research done by the Swedish National Institute of Public Health shows that people who snus has a higher chance of getting cancer then none-snusers, but it does not show that snus leads to cancer; this fact has not yet been confirmed. Though a lot of scientist still states that snus is carcinogenic the main distributor of snus, Swedish Match, claims that it is not, and that is my view of snus.

I believe that it’s much better to snus then it is to smoke and my trust lies with Swedish Match.

People ask me how I can trust my life to the people making money out of my addiction to snus and my answer is simple: They are the people distributing and manufacturing snus and I think this is a unique product, that hopefully one day will replace the cigarettes and smoking. I understand why people look at me confused and a bit angry, I would to if my best friend said: I trust Marlboro, I am certain that they will rescue me if I ever get cancer. My point is, that until you have read so many lies and so many faked researches as I have, you should trust the scientists and give up your smoking as well as your “cancer snus”.
However, every time I get this question I ask myself what my life would be like if I had instead kept on smoking my way to death… I would probably walk around stinky and with a bad breath, not to talk about the disgusting smoke-cough, and when I realise that none of those are the symptoms I have today I can proudly say that I switched from cigarettes to snus, witch by the way isn’t good, but it is better.

Furthermore, an article was published 2004 in the magazine Cancer Epidemiol Biomarkers, their research shows that if you instead of choosing snus keep on smoking, you have a 90% chance that you will die a tobacco related death, on the other hand you still have a 10% of having a tobacco related death if you hold on to your snus. Their research included several tobacco related diseases, such as lung cancer and premature death. Though I could not find any other information about snus leading to premature death this could be one of all the risks with snus.

Finally, a website called frifrannikotin.nu has estimated that a smoker cost our government 1.2 million kronor during their life. I would rather see those 1.2 million kronor bee invested in our health care sector, wouldn’t you? The site claims that every nicotine user in Sweden cost our government 1.2 million kronor, but this is a fact that I really do not believe, why? Because I have not been able to find any information that supports their statement, on the contrary I have found several sites that confirm that smokers cost our government a great deal of money.

Six months ago the government had to retrieve all the Swedish apples that had been sent out to the markets, why? Because the Swedish National Institute of Public Health showed that the apples were a national risk-factor. This has never been said about snus, neither has the government ever had to retrieve any shipments, does this shows us that snus is healthier than apples?

Smokers do not just claim or government’s money, they also claim innocent human lives! Over 500 people each year dies in Sweden by inhaling cancer-smoke witch is not their own.
If you look at the number of male smokers the year of 1976, 44% of them smoke and only 9% snus. At the year of 2005 only 17% of the males were smokers, while 22% of them were snusers, Swedish Match has done us a favour, they have saved our government from spending a great deal of money on smokers, let us try to give them something in return, fight for a Sweden were you do not have to be afraid of getting cancer while you are waiting for the bus!
