Once upon a time there lived an old woman in a big forest. She was very lonely and wished above all things a daughter. One day when she walked around in the forest, picking flowers she heard a small voice coming from the bushes. On a stone sat a green frog who said: Your wish will come true. Within a year, you will give birth to a daughter. And so after a year the old woman got a daughter.
The years went by and the girl grew up to be a very beautiful and clever lass. As the years went by, the already old woman got older and older and older. Then came the day when the old woman thought there was time for the little girl to find a husband since she would not be in this world much longer. There lived no young men in the big forest so the old woman told her daughter to go west, to the kingdom at the end of the forest.
For seven days and seven nights, the little girl walked and walked and walked. By dawn at the eight day, she got to the end of the forest and entered the big kingdom. While she walked the road she heard from people who passed that all the people in the kingdom was mourning. An evil witch had put the young prince under a spell and no one but his true love could rescue him. Many girls had tried but none had succeeded. To meet the prince you needed to answer three of the evil witch’s riddles.
When the young girl heard all this, she decided to go and see the young prince.
After three days, the girl arrived at the castle.
“What do you want little girl?” said the evil witch who sat on the castle wall. “I want to see the young prince,” the little girl said. “To do that you need to answer my riddles,” said the witch. “The first one: Five ladies walking trough the same door, entering one room each. What am I thinking of?” The little girl thought and thought and thought. She began to look around to get an idea of what the evil witch meant when she suddenly saw her own hand. “You are thinking of a hand inside a glove,” said the little girl. “Correct” muttered the evil witch. “The next one is much more difficult and I doubt you will know the answer to this one!”
“I do not have it and I do not want it, but if I get it, I never want to loose it. What am I thinking of?”
Once again, the little girl thought and thought and thought. She began to look at the evil witch to see what she did not have but if she got it she never wanted to loose it. The little girl looked at her warty nose, her black eyes, and her hair hanging in big tangles. “You are thinking of a bald head,” said the little girl. “Correct once again” muttered the evil witch. “The last one is the most difficult one and I strongly doubt you will know the answer to this one!”

Then she told the little girl the last riddle:
“We are placed next to each other and we can see everything around us but each other. Who are we?” For the last time the little girl thought and thought and thought. She began to look around once more. As she let her gaze sweep across the castle garden, she cried out “Eyes, you are thinking of a pair of eyes!”
The evil witch went furious. No one had ever succeeded in answering the riddles correctly. “All right then, you can go and see the young prince now, but I do not think he will pay any attention to you. He is asleep you see. An enchanted sleep” said the evil witch with an even more evil smile showing her three remaining yellow teeth and her ugly tongue covered with warts.
The little girl did not care. She ran into the room were the young prince was lying on a bed. The moment she laid her eyes upon him, she fell in love. She walked to the bed, bent down, and kissed the y...
