Her love life turns out to be a triangle drama between the desperate Bridget, her handsome boss Daniel and the nerdy, but cute Mark. The both of them have their qualities, and she’s taking her time figure out all of them.
Except her boyfriend problems, her mother and father break up. In the big city jungle, all middle aged friends has a partner, and she thinks it’s embarrassing with all their comments about finding Mr. Right when they’re having dinner.
Bridget is hovering between the drinking, happy, social single and a Bridget who’s depressed, dreaming about being eaten up by Alsatians and crying.
If I was the main character I would feel very stuck between two guys that I like because she can’t handle the stress at work, the stress at home and the stress when she’s with her family.
She’s trapped between two guys, the god one and the bad one.
She’s like two persons, she’s insecure and at the same time outrageous.
When I read the book I was giggling, worried about her and I’m, always angry at Daniel, the male chauvinist pig. The mood is very much switching between being happy and unhappy.
She has lots of problems; the family, her relatives, her job, her sex partners, the diets and the alcohol use. I think that many of us young or middle aged women can recognize our selves in her character. We are struggling with the same issues.
Two words that describe and characterize the book are argues and weakness.
The different characters in this book are wonderful, annoying, and glamorous and so on. The personalities are so different from each other.

’I’m not pre-menopausal, Mother!’ I exploded. ‘And I’m not Suddenly Single either. I’m suddenly part of a couple.’
‘Oh, don’t be silly darling,’ she hissed. I could hear office noises in the background.
‘I’ve got a boyfriend.’
‘Who?’
This conversation between Bridget and her mother shows how important Bridget thinks it is to have a boyfriend, and being emotionally involved. All of her friends, family and relatives are pushing her to have blind dates and meeting men with a reindeer on his knitted pullover.
I chose the word weakness because they are all struggling, but they fail on themselves. Bridget wants to loose weight, stop smoking and stop drinking.
Sometimes she keep the diary to write down what her foods consume of the day was.
- Friday 9 June: “9st 2, alcohol units 7, cigarettes 22, calories 2145, minutes spent inspecting face for wrinkles 230.”
