The book that I read is named Goodnight Mister Tom.
The book is about a boy called William. William was born in London some time before the World War 2 begun. When England declared war on Germany his mother decide to evacuate him to the country. In the country, he moved in at Tom Oakley, an old man who lived for him self in a house nearby the graveyard.

Tom, who had lived alone since his wife died, is a quiet old man. He is avoiding all kind of celebrations. But when William moved in he had to change him self. From being a grumpy old man, he changed to a happy nice man who takes part in the village’s problem. He started to play the organ in the church, guard as a fireguard in case Germans should bomb the village.
When William first came to little Weirwold, he was a quiet, scared and skinny boy. He peed in his bed every night and he thought that it was a shame to go to a theater. All because he had been raised tough by his mother. His mother was a sick woman, people in London told Tom about her. They said that she was strange, that she was very hard with rules. Personally I thought that she was braindead.

William became better as the time passed by. After a while he stopped to pee in his bed and he started to talk, smile and laugh. He also met some friends. Especially one boy called Zacharias Wrench, became his best friend. They played every day, and William had never felt so happy before in his entire life.

One day a letter came from his mother, it said that he had to go back to London, because she was very sick. William packed his things and went back to London to meet his mother. William had promised Tom that he would write a letter as soon as he came to London. When a week had passed by, and no letter had come from William Tom became worried about William. He took the train to London to look for William. When he finally found him, he was locked in a closet, almost starved to death. Tom took William to a hospital. They wanted to put him in an orphanage because his mother had abandoned him. Tom refused but he had nothing to come with because he was not family to William. One day, Tom “kidnapped” William and took him home to little Weirwold. Once home William felt much better. He started to eat again, and he was soon back to his old shape again. Life moved on and William forgot what happen to him in London.
A day in the summer, Tom took William and Zach to a trip to the coast. They staid there for ten days, and they had very fun all the time. When they had came back to little Weirwold, it had came a message to Zach. It said that his father had been badly injured, and he wonted to see him incase he should die.

Zach went to London, but he promised that he would come back. On the fourth day after Zach has went to London it came a letter that said that Zach had died. William became very sad when he herd about Zach’s death. It took several weeks before he came over it, but when he did, he learned to live with Zach’s death.

Some time before Zach’s death, a policeman and a woman from a Children’s home came and talked to William. They said that his mother had taken her life. William didn’t understand why a person could take his life. The w...
