The Hitch-hiker’s guide to the galaxy is a book, or actually five books, about Arthur Dent, and his friend Ford Perfect. Arthur is an ordinary Englishman who happens to have a very unusual friend. Ford is a journalist for the (in the universe) famous book “The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy”. He was supposed to write about the earth, but got stuck. He saves himself and Arthur when the earth destroys by the vogons to make place for the new hyper expressway.

This is just the beginning of their adventures. In the space they meet a lot strange personalities. For example the evil Zaphod who wants to take over the universe but don’t know why, and Marvin, a talkative manic-depressive robot who cant find any challenge with life. Together they travel around in the universe and find out strange things, for example why Earth was made. For their help they have “The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy”, the best handbook for hitchhikers and the most popular reference book in the universe. You can learn how to make the strongest drink ever, or how to travel see the wonder of the universe for less than 30 altarian dollars a day. The very best with the book is anyway the words “don’t panic” on the cover.

Douglas Adams was born in 1952 in Cambridge in England. He studied English literature on the university and has become a cult writer thanks to “the Hitch-hikers guide to the Galaxy”. He has written some other crazy novels too, but none as famous. “The Guide” was a broadcast on radio in 1978 and got very popular. Douglas wrote the first book in the series in 1980 and the last was finished in 1992. It has won several prises and has been sold in over 14 million copies world wide. Several TV- and radio series, films and computer games have been made about “the Guide” without loosing it’s popularity.

“The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy” has became a classic, loved by at least a half world. It’s funny and crazy and sometimes totally wicked.
