This movie takes place in another world, called Middle Earth. In the first sequence the Elf Queen Galadriel tells the story about the forging of the great rings of power. Three was gives to the Elves, nine was given to Humans and seven was given to the Dwarfs, but there was yet another ring forged, the ultimate ring of power, forged to the evil lord Sauron.

In Middle earth you can find creatures directly sprung from your imagination, for example the hobbits; Frodo, Sam, Bilbo, Merry, Pippin and last but not the least, the wizard Gandalf.
Frodo is the main character, he get the ring from his Uncle Bilbo who did not know what that the ring was evil.
Sam, Frodo, Merry and Pippin and the four hobbits that get the assignment to bring the ring to the another city, and even though ring- wraiths and other evil creatures tries to steal the ring from them the manage to bring it to the other city, where they meet Aragorn. Aragorn leads them to the kingdom of the Water Elves.

Leaders of the dwarfs, humans and elves and Frodo is later called to a big summon. Here they try to decide what to do with the ring, because they know it can not be destroyed it is hard to find a solution that fits all.
The elf king, Elrond, tells them that the ring can be destroyed but only in a mountain that lies in the land of Mordor, Saurons land.
No one wants to bring the ring to Mordor, because it is an evil place, but one reports freely to the job when the others can not agree, that is right, Frodo.
And the companion of the ring is made, Frodo (the ring holder), Merry, Pippin, Sam, and Aragorn, another human called Boromir, a dwarf called Gimli and an elf called Legolas and of c...
