The whole island was in a state of shock when the obstacles docked at the shore. What could it be? Could it be the Gods? Could it be UFO s? No, it turned out to be something much worse, they were humans! The humans were like a myth. Old scripts describe them as living creatures with two legs and with a very violent behavior carrying weapons of mass destruction. None of the sea urchins had ever met a human in real life but when the creatures left their vessels and started to shoot wildly at the urchins gathered on the beach, it became obvious that those creatures were humans. All the sea urchins who had passed elementary school knew that no civilization ever had survived mankind. The humans were like a disease, knocking out whole civilizations and spreading sickness and poverty wherever they came. The sea urchins gathered in the city hall and discussed how they could make the humans go away. After approximately one hour the decision was made. They decided to fight the invaders with Violence vs. Violence. The citizens who didn’t want to fight hid somewhere in the deep forest and all the others started to prepare for the battle.
Next morning the great battle started, and the sea urchins armed only with knives and forks suffered a great number of casualties. The humans had all the weapons needed to break through their badly organized defense line. The end was near when suddenly the humans started to use their frightening weapons against each other instead of fighting the sea urchins! When the humans fought each other, it was possible for the sea urchins to finally win the war, capture their leader Julius Caesar and kill the whole human army except for one man Maximus, who managed to escape back to the roman empire. All the sea urchins were relieved and life on Atlantis slowly went back to normal. The years passed away and five years later the whole civilization was rebuilt. Now you may wonder if they will live happily ever after? The answer is no, our story hasn’t finished yet.
After the battle against the humans, it became obvious to all the sea urchins that their defense wasn’t strong enough to fight invaders. But this was about to change. Only three month after the final victory in the war against the roman empire, they decided to develop new weapons. They started to build new submarines to the navy, new airplanes to the air force and develop several new weapons to the army. Atlantis was now well prepared in case of war. Lots of sea urchins started to complain about the amount of money that was “wasted” on the defense. The money was mostly taken from the education system and was it worth it ? The answer was yes.
It turned out that the sea urchins had made a fatal mistake when they won the war against the Romans. It didn’t seem like a very big deal at the time, but they never should have made it possible for the roman Maximus to escape back to Rom. When Maximus came back to Rom he told the leader what he have seen. He told him there was a island called Atlantis and that the island was filled with different kinds of treasures. He also said that the only thing that was blocking the way to the treasures, were some badly armed creatures called the sea urchins. At first the leader didn’t believe him. But finally Maximus managed to change his mind. He agreed to send a very large ship to the island, in order to collect the treasure. Maximus requested to be the new captain on the ship, but the leader declined his request. That made Maximus very angry. He took a very sharp knife and stabbed the old leader straight through the heart. The leader fell down on the floor and died immediately. When the old leader died, it became a golden opportunity for Maximus to gain power. He made himself the new leader of the roman empire. Nobody dared to challenge him.
The first thing he did was to order an attack on Atlantis. He gave the invasion of Atlantis top priority, because he never forgot the shame when he was forced to escape from the island in the war before. He sent the greatest army ever seen in Europe to fulfill his dream. When the army docked on the same shore as in the war before the officers felt very confident. This army was ten times the size of the previous one and armed with ten times stronger weapons. They all thought it would be a peace of cake and that the siege wouldn’t last longer than a week. They also expected the same resistance as the last time they were there. But they couldn’t have been more wrong. When the battle began they were surprised and overwhelmed by the power of their opponents. It didn’t take much time before the Romans knew what have happened. They were easily outnumbered by the sea urchins, and worst of all the sea urchins were armed with more advanced and powerful weapons than they had.
During normal circumstances an army so outnumbered as the Roman would easily escape from the battlefield and start begging for peace. But as we all know the Romans were very proud, and most of them chose a certain death before surrender. It was a slaughter. The sea urchins eliminated 90 percent of the roman army within a week, and the slaughter continued. After two weeks the whole roman army was destroyed, but once again one man Theodore, managed to escape back to the roman empire. Do the sea urchins never learn!
After the second war the sea urchins thought they’ve taught the Romans a lesson. Now they won’t think that we’re weak. Hopefully they will leave us alone. Almost the whole population on Atlantis were fed up with war. They decided to disarm and live a life in peace. Once again life on Atlantis slowly went back to normal. At the same time Theodore returned to Rom where he met Maximus. Theodore told Maximus what has happened and Maximus became very concerned about the situation. He started to hallucinate about the sea urchins and their island. After a couple of month the hallucinations became more and more real. Finally he got completely insane and committed suicide.
So does the sea urchins live happily ever after? No I’m afraid not. Directly after Maxim...
