America - Tourist Attractions

The Statue of Liberty:

The statue of liberty was presented to the United States of America as a gift of friendship between the French and the Americans after the American Revolution in the year 1886. It is also the remembrance of when the United States Declaration of Independence was signed, July 4th 1776. A man named Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi was the one responsible for the sculptering of the statue and obtained a U.S patent for the sturcure. It was agreerd that the Americans would build the base while the French was going to build the statue. Worldwide, the Statue of Liberty is one of the most recognizable icons of the United States and was until the built more modern planes one of the things you saw when you flew to America. When people immergrate to America they see the The statue of Liberty welcoming them into America and whishing them a happy stay and a prosperous future. It's a symbol of the United States whish to be free from slavery,oppresion and tyranny. The statue of liberty dosen't only exsit in New york but also in Paris and in Macieo.

The Statue of Liberty is visited by over 3 000 000million visitors a year and there the can enjoy the magnificent view and a free guided tour from the islands park rangers.

This is a part of a poem written on bronze plaque engraved on the exterior of the pedestal.

"Give me your tired, your poor,Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
  

 The Empire State Building:

The Empire State Building is a 102 stories and 443,2meters tall building in the middle of America's capital New York City (Once the worlds tallest building, for 42years).

The world's today's tallest building lies in Taiwan and is called Taipei Financial Center. The tower got its nickname from the state of New York, which once was called ‘'The Empire State''. The started building the Empire state building in 1930 and it was finished and inaugurated in Mars 1930. This building has gotten world known from the hundreds of movies it has taken part of, the most famous and well-known movie is King Kong.

A tradition since 1976 which the building has always held is when it lights up in special colors for different holidays and events, for example for Christmas it shines up in the colors red/green/green and for FN-day blue/blue/white, Valentines day completely red, and for Easter yellow/yellow/white and so on.

   

World Trade Center:

The Twin Towers as they are nicknamed are both at an amazing height of 415 - 417m tall. And was for a while the tallest buildings in New York until the built the sears towers buildings that is 30m higher then WTC. The proposition of building the towers was proposed first in 1946 by Thomas E. Dewey that whit a New York State legislature started developing plans for the building. But in 1949 the building plans had to be put on hold due to economic problems so that all their focus was put on Midtown Manhattan leaving lover Manhattan out of the ordeal, to solve urban regeneration (the destroying of businesses, the relocation of people and legally taking private property to initiate city development projects.) problem he proposed that they build a world trade center in lower Manhattan. The initial plans where made public in 1961 that they had chosen a site near the East river, and the port authority required an approval from the New York and New Jersey governors to undertake this project.  The New Jersey governor was against the proposition that they where getting such a large amount of money for building the towers but after a while of negation and the discussions whit the newly selected governor they came to an agreement.

The buildings where finished in 1973 (This cost America 900$ million dollars.) And the ribbon cutting occurred on the 4th of April.

The Grand Canyon:

The Grand Canyon is a deep gorge carved by the Colorado river. The Canyon is located in the state of Arizona and its national park is one of the first in America.

Grand canyon's national park is one of the most know tourist attractions in the world and is visited by more then 5 million people a year. A part from the usual sightseeing you can also go hiking and even running in the canyon, the park rangers are against the hiking because of the dangers there is when you go hiking down the canyon. It takes about a day to get downwards and upwards and there is many experienced hitchhikers complete this trip every year.

It's said that the canyon was created by the Colorado River in a period of six million years, whit an amazing length of 277miles (446km) and a width 4 to 18miles (6,4 to 29km) and a depth over a mile (1,83km). 2 billion years ago the formation of the canyon started and year after year it started the develop getting bigger and bigger and for about 6million years ago it was finished to the majestic canyon it is today.  

Disneyland:

Disneyland is a theme park in Anaheim, California that is owned by Walt Disney parks and resort division of the Walt Disney Company. Currently Disneyland has been visited by more then 515million people sine it opened in July 17, 1955. Amongst these guests there has been presidents, royalty and other heads of state. In the year of 1988 it was renamed Disneyland Park for the reason to be able to tell the difference between the newly opened and larger Disneyland resort. Disneyland is the most known theme park in America and is loved by all, but Disneyland doesn't only exist in American it also exists in France, Paris where it also is very popular. Here is a citation where he tells what he wants the people to know what this means to him and to all the people in the world, from the one who created Disneyland Walter Elias Disney: "To all who come to this happy place - welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America... with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world. Thank you."

The Disneyland resort is diveded in to five areas there is Main Street that will make your grandad feel young again since it created in a 20th centuary design, Adventureland a land of tropical beuties and action adventure, Frontierland takes you back to the pioneer days in America, Fantasyland where the youngings can live their all fantasys frome the magic land of Disneyworld, and Tomorrowland where you can see possible future .

The Hollywood Sign:

The Famous Hollywood sign lies in Los Angelse, California it spells out the name of the ever so famous area with large white letters (50feet). The sign was created in 1923 as an advertisement but as time went on it became a famous symbol for the state of Hollywood. And today it's a very famous tourist attraction visited by over sevral million people. The sign is protected and preserved by a little organastion named Hollywood Sign Trust, there they make sure that its safe from pranks and destructions of any kind but also make sure to tell the history and culteral story about The Hollywood Sign, and to raise funds necessary to complete importent goals. The sign often appears in popular movies and televison series shot around the Hollywood area, a exampel of a movie it appears in is Day After Tommorow but also in the background of current 20th Centuary Fox logo(Signs of the same meaning appears often in parodies). From the beginning The Hollywood Sign was actually going to stand Hollywoodland. To introduce the appartements being built in the hills over the Los Angels district but the building manager had already made one sign for the event,  so he suggested to his friend Harry Chandler (Owner of the Los Angles Times) that they make a simmilar sign to represant their state. So that he did, he hired a bulding company named Wodruff and Shoults to build the sign. Wodruff and Shoults called their development for HOLLYWOODLAND and was presented as I quote "Superb environment without excessive cost on the Hollywood side of the hills." Each letter of the sign was 30 ft (9 m) wide and 50 ft (15 m) high, and was  installed whith 4000 light bulbs so you can se its beauty in the night.

The Academy Awards but mostly known as The Oscars is a thru out the world known as movie gala whear all the known movies get criticized by a group of judges(AMPAS= Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science), to crown this years best film, Actor, Sound, Directors and Writers.
