What do you think of when you hear the name of the country South Africa?

Well, I think of three things: Nelson Mandela, The football World Cup 2010 and the Bastille song ”Durban Skies”.

South Africa is divided in eight big parts, as you can see on the map.

South Africa have three capitals, unlikley to Sweden who has one capital, Stockholm. That’s even bring more trouble to the brain when you will know what South Africa:s capital is that the largest city, Johannesburg even is one of them. Instead is this three cities: Cape Town, who is the second biggest city with the parlament and the city is famous for having Cape of Good Hope and Robben Island the prison Island, Pretoria, the fourth biggest city, just 50 kilometers from Johannesburg, who has the president and the government and Bloemfointen, the seventh biggest city in the country, who has the Supreme Court. To make this easier so can i make this comparision on Sweden if we have the same situation here in Sweden: Stockholm have no power, in Gothenburg is were the parlament is, Uppsala has the government and the Prime Minister and Örebro has the Supreme Court. Do you understand? I know, it’s complicate.

Johannesburg is the largest city in South Africa with 4,4 million people. The majority of the population in Johannesburg is Christian. The town is based just 50 kilometers south from Pretoria.

Witwatersand is the largest industrial area in South Africa with big mining fields, were it’s take gold up and other metalls. Johannesburg have also three big univeristies.

Durban is the third largest city in the county with 3,4 million people. The town is larger than Warzaw, Polands capital. Durban have the largest mosque on the south part of the hemisphere, Jumah Mushid.

All the three biggest cities in South Africa, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban is bigger than Stockholm. Durban have the largest harbour in the country and on the east coast of Africa. It’s here the produced things from Witwatersand it’s been shipped all over the world.

The town is the hottest city in the country with makes Durban to a big tourist city. At the summer, i’ts about 27 dergees Celsius at the most and on the winter it’s about 13 degrees Celsuis.

South Africa is one of the hardest affected countries of AIDS with 5,5 million people affected. Unlikley to Sweden have South Africa no sexual education in school and free condomes.
