                                       The Lord of the Rings

The lord of the rings is an epic fantasy novel which is written by a British author named J.R.R. Tolkien. The director that created the movie is Peter Jackson. The book first came out on the 29th of July 1954 and the movie was published on the 19th of December 2001. Jackson´s mission was to turn a huge epic story into three understandable movies that followed the book that Tolkien released. The movies aren’t that accurate, but it isn’t a bad thing because he made them for a more general audience.

The story begins with the forging of the Great Rings. Three are given to the Elves; wisest, immortal and fairest of all beings. Seven, to the Dwarf Lords, craftsmen and great miners of the mountain halls. Nine rings are given to the race of Men, who all above all else desires power. In the land of Mordor, in the fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Sauron forges in secret, a master ring to rule them all.

The Fellowship of the Ring introduces us to the Middle-Earth, its creatures, villains and heroes. Frodo Baggins is a Hobbit, happy, cheerful and carefree, who lives in The Shire. Frodo is requested by the wizard Gandalf to deliver The Ring to Rivendell, where all the Middle-Earth creatures would determine how to handle the situation with the reawakened threat of Sauron, the Dark Lord. Unaware of what he has agreed to do, Frodo, his best friends Sam, Merry and Pippin head out from their home to deliver The Ring to Rivendell, the home of the Elves. Unfortunately Frodo and his companions soon learn that The Ring has dark powers and even darker souls searching for it. With their lives in danger, a mysterious and unknown Ranger,  Aragon, offers them guidance and aid and escorts them to Rivendell. As the group reaches Rivendell we meet numerous characters, Legolas, Boromir, Arwen, Elrond, and the Dwarf Gimli. By the end of The Fellowship of the Ring journeys are set towards Mount Doom in order to destroy the One Ring. On the path however Aragon must learn to accept his role amongst the nobility of old. Legolas and Gimli must work together and set aside the generations of hatred that exist between the races of Elves and Dwarves. The Hobbits discover that bravery comes in the smallest packages.

I think that the book and the movies are fantastic and very interesting. I also think that it is interesting that the movies do not follow Tolkien's timeline of events, such as when Frodo is shown in the movie he is only a teenager and in the book he is already an adult when he starts his journey. This was probably done to move the plot along faster. There are countless differences between the book and the movies but the most major and outstanding difference for me is that a special person, Tom Bombadil, is not included in the movies as he is in the book. I hope that Peter Jackson makes a remake of all the movies into only one movie that is very precise and accurate to the book. What I like the most about The Lord of the Rings is that you could never know what was going to happen while reading the book and watching the movies. The thing I don't like is that the movies weren't so accurate to the book.
