Analys of the speech Dream by Martin Luther King


The most important message in the speech is that all people are created equal, and even if that wasent how the people in America thought at it at that time, Martin Luther King felt it must be the case for the future. He argued effectively and powerfull.

I personally think that King would be proud of a lot of the progress we have made since his assassination... and then tell us we still have much work to do. And always will.

I think there are different reasons why Martin Luther King had chosen to the word “Dream” so often and repeat it as a strive. First as the beginning of the speech tells, it is an direct allusion to the American Dream. Which most Americans believe in : a dream where people have right to a high standard of living and a decent way of life. Second, the peaceful situation he describes for the black people in America stands in contrast with the reality they have known for centuries and even the reality of the 1960''''s. Compared with this ideal, their existence is but a nightmare. Last but not least, to dream is one of the last thing left to a man when he is desperate. What does he dream of? He dreams of a time and place where his fellowmen will no longer be segregated, prejudiced against or treated as inferiors. He wishes the blacks and the whites were really equal, he wishes they shared the same rights in America.
