While they travel, they live in a tent at least that’s what it looks like from the outside. The interior is about the size of a small flat, complete with bathroom, a tiny kitchen, armchairs and bunk beds. They spend the better part of a year living like this, constantly moving around and protecting the tent with several protecting enchantments, to shield them from Voldemort and his followers the Death Eaters.
Voldemort is ruthless, sadistic, and bloodthirsty; he is willing to kill even his own “friends”. Voldemort is tall and very thin, with white and pale skin; he has wide scarlet eyes and a nose that is as flat as a snake’s. Voldemort worst fear is death. There is only one person that has survived his deadly magic, and that is Harry Potter. Harry is a 17-year-old boy, left orphaned when his parents were killed by Voldemort 16 years ago. Harry unlike Voldemort does not fear death; he accepts that he must die, and that there are much worse things in the world of the living. This gives one of them the upper hand, and ultimately causes the other ones demise.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is a novel about death and the constant battle between good and evil, between Voldemort and Harry, the Dark Lord and the Boy Who Lived. There are more than one parallel to Nazi Germany in the book. Muggle-born people are pejoratively known as Mudbloods, referring to their impure blood and family. They are accused of having stolen their magical powers and are by the Death Eaters at least, considered as inferior beings. This is a very clever way of retelling that horrible story and showing us how easy it is to make a small group of people the scapegoat of all our problems.
This book is by far the darkest on in the series, to me the best part of it was the unfolding of Snape’s true nature. The earlier books in the series have left us wondering if he is on “our” side or if he is still one of the Death Eaters, now we finally get to know, and of course, the revelation is much more heart breaking and complicated than we could even imagine. The part I like the least is the extremely cheesy epilogue where Rowling tries to give us closure and undermine the talk of a sequel. Yes, it did give me closure but it felt very off, it was just five pages of endless name-dropping. This novel was highly anticipated by me, and millions of other Harry Potter-fans. Rowling had many people counting on her. Even though it has its faults, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is a very good book, bu...
