I’ve seen the movie “Time machine”. It’s based on H.G. Wells novel “The time machine”. It’s about Dr Alexander Hartegen who works at a school in New York. He is an inventor and doctor of applied mechanics and engineering.

The beginning of the film takes place in the beginning of 20’th-century. Alexander seems like a clever guy. He has done a lot of inventions and he scribbles several of blackboards full of maths to calculate the right formula for these.

Philby is Alexanders best friend and guide through life. He says what’s right to do and gives advises to him.

Alexanders love is called Emma, and this day when the introduction of the film takes place, he asks her if she would like to marry him. He gives her the most beautiful ring, decorated with a blue moonstone. They seem so happy, and then a man comes out of the bushes in the park. He has a gun and he’s trying to rob them. Emma refuse to give him the ring and then he shoot her to death.

After this tragical beginning of the story, Hartegen starts to build a time machine. It takes four years and then he travel four years back through time to make the death undone. But he will discover something. It was meant for her to die that day. He can come back as many time as he want, she will die in several ways every time.

Alexander changes his destination. He’s trying to find the answer by travelling into the future, with his first stop at 2030, where he finding himself and his machine standing right in a shoppingcenter. He went out and discover a library where there is an artificial librarian.
Alexander hopes that he can tell him something about time machines. (he thinks that the people in the future have come as far as he have done with his invention.) But the librarian tells him that there isn’t possible to travel pass time.

Alexander think that he has a couple of centuries left to go before he’s finding his answer. He comes seven years forward and he will hear a big bang sound. He stops the machine and will see that the shoppingcenter almost is all crashed down and people run for their lives. Someone yells that the moon is falling down, and then he see. The moon really are falling down into peace’s from the sky. He runs back to his machine and start it. Something hit it and he knock his head and pass away for a moment. Meanwhile the machine goes 800 000 years into the future. He wakes up and stop the machine of the year 802 701. The world look totally different. Where New York once stood, there is just forest and nature.

He’s meeting a new kind of humanity, but they have split up in two species; one over ground and one under ground. The one under ground is bad and uses the other specie to fodder themselves. He become friend with a woman called Maria and her son Kalen.

He has got his answer of his question; you can’t change the passed, not even with a time machine. What is supposed to happen, just happen, and you can’t do anything to change the destiny.

This movie was tremendously interesting. It woke up a lot of ponderings in my mind. I started to think about our existence, the evolution and the technique.
Will it be possible to travel through time? Is there a destiny, and is it predetermined? How will the future look like? Is the future predetermined or can we affect it?

I think it is very interesting when film makers speculates about future and things we don’t have a clue about.

One thing is strange. The people 800 000 years later talks perfect English and they look exactly like we do today. Anyway, the people over ground does. (and all of them can’t speak English, but Maria and Kalen can.)

Already in our days, we can see changes in our language the last century, what wouldn’t it do in 800 000 years?

800 000 years ago, the humans didn’t even look like we do. Our race, “Homo sapiens sapiens”, didn’t even exist then. What tells us that the evolution will not continue?
Maybe it is supposed that this woman learned to talk English by collected works and by that artificial librarian, but I don’t think that she would talk exact like a “modern american” if this was in real.
And I don’t think that there is human life on this planet in 800 000 years.

Alexander did all this just to find out why his beloved woman died. He acts like every person in all times would have done w...
