”What must be of concern is that she died, and that she was one of thousands of drug deaths that year”.

Alice was a normal teenager until one day when she get’s introduced into the world of drugs. The book is based on the diary of this fifteen-year-old drug user, in the book called Alice.

The first weeks of the summer Alice spends at her Gran’s place. It’s also here that she experience, as she thought then, the colour-sparkling world of drugs. A girl called Jill invites her to a party she is having. When she get’s there they are going to play something called “Button, button, who’s got the button?”. One boy brings out a tray of coke and everyone is taking a glass. Alice have never played that game before so she does as the other kids are doing. They are sipping on their drinks and watching each other.

Suddenly Alice feels strange inside. Here hands are sweating, here whole body are tense at every muscle and she is feeling a weird apprehension*1 sweeping over her. Then she starts laughing, wildly, hysterically...

“Button, button” was a game witch included 14 bottles of coke and 10 of them had LSD*2 in them.

That was Alice’s first drug experience, and she loved it. She spends a lot more time with her new “friends”, and as she do, she soon get’s to the point where “there Isn’t even life without drugs”...

Alice runs away from home with an other doper girl. There travelling around in the country and visits a lot of different cities. During this period Alice is depressed and she is feeling real down and low. She knows what the drugs have done to her. So now she tries to keep away from them, but it isn’t easy. She’s having no end of trouble with the drugs and with no money she is always hungry. She is getting very ill, and she is feeling miserable. One day when she is walking down the river she meet’s people from the Salvation Army. She speaks to them and they call her parents.

Whole her family get’s very happy when she arrives home again. Her Gramp kiss her on her forehead and they are all really happy to have here home again in one piece.
Alice Gramp get a stroke and he dies. Alice old, doper-friends from school are really evil to her. They know that she is no longer using drugs so now they are mobbing here. Alice hates it! She tells her parents about what’s going on and they promise to help her keeping away from them.
One day when she is baby-sitting she’s ‘being taken in’ into drugs again. She gets totally crazy and falls into coma.
When she wakes up her parents tell her what has happened and she get moved to a Mental Hospital. And like that wasn’t enough, two girls called Mercie and Jan are accusing her for pushing at school.
