The books story is about a teenage girl who lives in a small town in USA. Everything is rather good and she lives a "normal" life with the usual boy troubles and such. But one day the family decides that they were going to move becuase her dad had got a better job in another, bigger city. Of course Alice gets excited and is really looking forward to it. But when she gets there it doesn’t work out that good. She doesn’t find any new friends and gets kind of depressed. Her parents are working all the time and everything seems miserable to her.
