I’ve been reading a bit about “The Jackson 5”, one of the biggest music groups in the ‘70s. The members, when the group was at the top of its carrier, were:

Jackie Jackson – Born May 4th, 1951
Tito Jackson – Born October 15th, 1953
Jermaine Jackson – Born December 11th, 1954
Marlon Jackson – Born March 12th, 1957
And the youngest brother of them all who later on became “The King of Pop”…..
Michael Jackson – Born August 29th, 1958

All of them born and grown up in a small town in USA, IN called Gary, where they also started their group. But the group were started actually already in 1962 by the three oldest sons (and also with two of their cousins, Johnny Jackson and Ronnie Rancifer). Their father Joe was stern and a disciplinarian. So while the other kids played and were together were the Jackson brothers almost all the time practicing songs or dance steps.

Before they were famous they competed in some talent competitions in which they were very successful. They were discovered by Diana Ross who gave them a chance to perform for greater audience and “on air”. After that they spitted out “Top-tens” for several years.

Their most famous songs are defiantly “ABC” and “I want you back”. After having many songs hitting the top of the music charts the “Jackson 5 craze” cooled down a bit in the middle of the 70s. They didn’t stop totally but the albums didn’t come so quick and not every song was a “No.1”. Because it’s hard to just spit out hit after hit even though “Jackson 5” did that for many years you can’t keep up forever. And then some of the brothers tried to do solo careers but it was only Michael who made a greater success (but what a success!).

I think, at least after what I’ve read in several serious websites, that their dad, Joe, were much too strict against the children. Though I’ve also thought about what would have happen if they didn’t have such a strict and stern father. And I think they wouldn’t have gone so far in the “show business” if he would have been more “normal”. Because after all Michael is “The King of Pop” and probably the best dancer in history. And Jackson 5 was absolutely one of the greatest groups in the 70s.

When talking about the Jackson 5 music the word “happy” directly gets into my mind. Because when I’m listening to songs like “I want you back” that’s exactly what I feel inside. The so...
