The best laid plans

The book I have read is written by Sidney Sheldon. It was a very good book because Sidney writes good and it´s one of those books that you can´t put down when you read them. It was really exiting at some parts, but some parts are pretty boring.

The book is about a women called Leslie Stewart that is a beautiful and ambitious PR executive. Then there is this handsome man that´s running for governor of a small southern state. His name is Oliver Russell and one day he sets an appointment to meet Leslie and her boss. He want´s them to help him run for governor because his other sponsor had dropped him out. Cause when Oliver was running for governor with Todd´s help he had been dating his daughter, but when she (Jan Davis) finds Oliver hooked up with another girl she runs out on him and her father don´t pay for his PR anymore.
Before he comes to her office Leslie reads her horoscope in an astrology column by Zoltaire. She doesn´t believe in that stuff, but read it anyway. It stood that the new moon is good for her love life and that she should pay high attention to an exiting new event in her life and that the sign she would fit best with is Virgo.
Leslie, that has a hard time falling in love, becomes totally in love with him and just for fun she ask with sign he is and his answer was "Virgo". The first line ever in her new diary that she bought read:
Dear diary: This morning I met the man I am going to marry.
After a few of work meetings Leslie find that Oliver is so much more than just smart and handsome. He´s funny and has a big charisma and charm. After one of the meetings one night, Oliver walk´s Leslie home. At the front door Leslie invites him to her apartment and they made love. Before they made love Oliver offered Leslie ecstasy in liquid form, and acclaims that it´s supposed to be the greatest aphrodisiac but Leslie convince him to through it away. They started to date and a while later the where engage.
Then Oliver cancel a dinner-date with Leslie to go se a client. The very next day Leslie read the paper and she finds an article that said that a girl had been found near the Kentucky River, dead. The doctors said that she had died by an overdose of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (ecstasy).
One week before the wedding Oliver has to go to Paris to see a client by orders from senator Todd Davis. Leslie once again reads the astrology column by Zolitaire and this time it says that this is not a good day to change plans. Taking risks can lead to serious problems. She almost calls Oliver and tells him not to go on the plan.

Three days before the wedding Leslie still hasn´t heard anything from Oliver and starts to get worried. Two days before she gets a call and her first thought is "something has happened to Oliver. His dead !". She picks up the phone and it´s a reporter that´s asking her for a comment of how she fells about governor Oliver Russell marring Jan Davis. After that news Leslie gets totally depressed and filled with anger and promise her self to make Oliver wish he´d never been born.

Leslie goes to Oliver and Jan´s wedding in the church were Leslie and Oliver should have been married. Two days after that she gets an appointment with senator Todd Davis.
A couple of minutes before Leslie walks in to Todd´s office Todd is preparing for the question "I just found out I´m going to have Oliver´s baby, and I don´t know what to do… I don´t want to cause a scandal, but… I´m willing to raise the baby, but I don´t have enough money"
The question he gets is: "Do you know Henry Chambers?" Todd is surprised.
"Do I- yes. Why?"
Leslie explains that she is going to move to Australia and doesn´t know anyone there and she thought that Todd would know him and could call him to have her picked up at the airport so she could fell a little bit more home. Todd does that and when Leslie is gone, the first thing that crosses Todd´s mind is: "What the hell does Leslie Stewart want Henry Chambers!?"
Leslie quits her job, and then goes to the airport.

At the airport, Sky Harbor in Phoenix, Arizona, Leslie buys three newspapers before she finds it. The astrology column by Zolitaire. Not that she believed in astrology, but.. "Jupiter is joining your sun. Romantic plans made now will be fulfilled. Excellent prospects for the future. Proceed cautiously."
Leslie is being picked up by Henrys chauffeur and he is asking, for Mr. Chambers, if she is free to join him for dinner. She is. Henry owns a little newspaper called the Star. It´s not a paper that´s running well and Henry doesn´t care a lot.

Two months later they are married and everything is going just like Leslie had planed it would. At first Leslie didn´t care about Henry, but she learned to love him, and when he pasts away by a disease she actually misses him. When Henry is gone Leslie take over his paper. She tricks a union that is holding the paper back and then it goes well. She buys another paper called the Sun. The Sun is competing with the Hammond Chronicle and booth of the newspaper is in Hammond, and Hammond is a two-newspaper town. The Chronicle is way ahead of the Sun, but then Leslie arranges contests that is taking people to warmer countries and she is cutting the prize of it. The Sun loses a lot of money, but then it wins. Eleven months after Leslie had bought the Sun, Walt Meriweter, the owner of the Chronicle, came to se her.
"I´m selling out. Do you want to buy the Chronicle?"
"Yes."

Oliver Russell is now running for president, with Todd´s help. He has an assistant, Peter Tager and an secretary, Miriam. Oliver has never seen a man that loves his family more than Peter, and he have never meet a man so good at politic as Peter, and he has never been with a man with an eye-patch.
One day at the morning, they found Miriam lying on a park bench, unconscious. She lies in a coma and that´s because of ecstasy. The police is just waiting for her to wake up and tell them who gave her it.

Dana Evans is an young beautiful women that want´s to work as an reporter. All her life she have been wishing for it and one day she gets a reporter job, but to her disappointment the paper gets sold pretty quick to Leslie Stewart. She decides to try to get a job on the same paper and goes to se the new boss, Matt Barker. He doesn´t give her a job and just when she´s about to live, she overhears Matt taking to one of the reporters, asking him if he got the story on why Stacy Taylor is in the hospital.
Dana goes to the hospital and gets the story, and gives it to Matt who fix her a job directly. Not as a reporter, cause there are no jobs available , so she gets a job as a Television Copy at the TV-station WTE. It goes well for her but then one day one of the TV newscasters, Julia, doesn´t show up, so Dana covers for her. Julia has been in an car accident and her face is "destroyed" so when Matt sees that Dana is good on this, he hires her. After a two year contract Dana wants to cover the world. Not reporting about a fire in a barn on some unknown farm. So she makes Matt move her to Sarajevo to cover the big wore, but he doesn´t like it.
At the airport in Sarajevo a man comes to her. His name is Colonel Gordan Divjak and is the Serbian equivalent of the Gestapo. He tells her that is she does anything to make them look bad in this wore, or do anything to change it, she would be in much trouble.
In Sarajevo he has two men with her. One of them is a camera man that gets a bullet in his head in front of Dana, and his head kind of explodes. After that she is willing to go home, but changes her mind in the last minute. She stays with a bunch of other reporters and she gets a package from Matt once a month and she splits it with all the other reporters.
Then she meets Kemal. He´s an twelve year old boy that´s missing parents, an arm and a home. He tells her about his, and many other children´s life´s on the city dump, and if the police catch them, their dead meat. So Dana takes all the kids in to a house on the country and makes a plan to save them. When her package comes she sends Kemal to pick it up. She doesn´t share it with the other reporters, they gets jealous and tricks Kemal to take them to Dana. When the comes in to the barn where Dana and al the kids are, the reporters gets surprised and almost all of them wants to help her, but they are to scared. One of the reporters tell Dana to not do it because it´s not their business, but she doesn´t listen.
As she sees the plan with the kids fly of to Paris there’s a car pulling over besides Dana. Colonel Gordan Divjak and the reporter that warned her comes out of the car and Colonel Gordan Divjak takes Dana as a prison. When the news reach America, all the important persons tries to get Dana out and don´t be killed. Most of the work does Leslie, after all she owns WTE. Dana gets free and when she comes home to the U.S.A. she has a hard time adjusting to the real life. So a man named Jeff Connors helps her to start eat again and stuff.

Oliver has now became president of the United States and has moved in to the white House with Jan, and he loves it there.

Leslie gets more money and buys the Washington Tideburn.
Oliver is now being accused for sexual harassment. Leslie, who thinks that she has enough with power to destroy Oliver, writes about it. This is bad for Oliver and Todd tells him to try to charm her and gives him the keys to a quiet place, but Leslie doublecrosses him, and writes about that to the next day.

In the Topsuit at one of the most expensive hotels in America there is a girl found dead by an overdose of ecstasy. Chloe Hudson, the girl, and her class was on a visit to Washington and was visiting the White House, and since Chloe´s mother is a governor she had arranged a meeting fore her with the president, but he had to cancel.
