Harry Potter is a usual boy, who lives just outside London with his aunt Petunia, her husband Vernon and their son, Harry’s cousin Dudley. The reason that Harry lives with them are because his parents were killed in a car crash, at least that is what Harry has been told. He does not have an easy life, his cousin Dudley does everything he can to do Harry’s life as miserable as possible.
But one day, a mysterious letter arrives, addressed to Harry. When uncle Vernon discovers that he takes the letter. The following day two new letters to Harry arrives, and it continues like that; every day it comes more and more letters to Harry. All his attempts to catch a letter fail. He is very curious about what it can be in the letters since he is not allowed to see. One day, when the whole house is about to be filled with the letters, the family escapes to a deserted island.
In the middle of the night the door is about to break, because someone is banging it harshly. The door falls and in comes a giant, everybody gets really frighten. The giant says that he is looking for Harry, and he introduces him self as Hagrid. He tells Harry that Harry is a wizard, and that the letters addressed to him has come from Hogwarts school of Wizardry and Witchcraft. He tells Harry the truth about Harry’s parent’s death, that an evil and powerful wizard killed them, Lord Voldemort. Harry founds out that his aunt has know about it all along, that Harry is a wizard. All these news are in the beginning a bit too much for Harry to cope with, it makes him speechless but after a little while he gets back to his right senses.
Harry follows Hagrid to London, where they buy all the things that Harry need in his new school. Then Harry also finds out that he is a celebrity in the magical world, because he survived a deadly spell that Voldemort threw on him. Now one had ever survived something like that before. This had also nearly killed Voldemort and put a stop to a dark era of time.
On the train towards Hogwarts Harry finds him self a new friend in Ron Weasley. They stick together and find soon a new, common friend: Hermione Granger. These three has some tough times. Since Harry Potter is so famous is it a lot of people who is jealous and tries to give Harry and is friend a miserable time at Hogwarts. But thee three friends finds strength in each other and copes with it quite well. Then they starts to discover some suspicious things that they feels like they just have to find the answers to. Before they know they finds them self’s in a fight with Voldemort…


The book is written by J. K. Rowling. She started to write it when she sat on a delayed train, she was completely broke then but since the books about Harry Potter has got so popular, she has not any problems with money anymore. Nowadays so is it hard to find someone who has not read any of the books. Rowling has written five, present day, but she is going to write seven. The books have also been made as movies.


I like the book very much; it is one of my favorites. Rowling shows everyones feelings through detailed facial expressions because you, as a reader, experience everything through Harry’s eyes. One of the reasons to why I like this book as much as I do is because it is timeless. It can’t be to old, because it is a very small part of the book that takes place in a defi...
