He moved on by talking about the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence who, in his eyes had failed their promises to the people of America – or at least the Negros in America. And then he came to the starting point for the whole speech. He told the listeners that “Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice”. He continues the speech by telling more reasons for that the time had come for the Negros to fight down the racial injustices in America. He also talked about the devastating consequences the racial injustices would have for America – both for black and white people.
He finished the speech by telling the listeners about his dreams. His dream about America as a country where every man is created equal. And he mentioned a couple of places where the racial differences where extra big. Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!’ ”.
