John Grisham was born on February 8, 1955in Jonesboro, Arkansas. When he was a child he dreamed about becoming a pro baseball player. He didn’t have the talent, so after he had graduating from law-school, he went on to practice law near a decade.
One day after a testimony of a 12-years-old raped victim was Grisham inspired to write a novel about what could happened if the girl’s father had murdered the man who raped her. He got up five every morning to write a couple of hours before he had to go to work. The book, A Time To Kill, was published in June 1988, after have bin rejected by couple of publishers.
After the book A Time To Kill was finished he started to work on another novel. This time it was about a young lawyer, his new office was on what appears to be the perfect law firm. He discovered that it not always were like what it seems to be, The Firm was the title of this new book from Grisham. He sold the film rights of the book to Paramount Pictures for 600 000 dollars. Suddenly Grisham became ha hot subject for the publishers.
For 47 weeks The Firm was on the list over the bestsellers in The New York Times.
The Pelican Brief, The Client and The Chamber were also enjoyed to be on the list with the bestseller status, this confirmed that Grisham was a really good on writing legal thrillers. The three last novels turned also into hit films.
John Grisham has since 1988 written one novel on a year; all these books have turned into bestsellers. “The bestselling novelist of the 90s” is the words that The Magazine Publishers Weekly declared him.
60 million John Grisham books has now a home al around the world and the books has bin translated into over 25 languages.
