Robinson Crusoe
The author of Robinson Crusoe, Daniel Defoe was born in London 1660. Before his career as an author Daniel Defoe worked in a textiles factory but when it closed down he decided to go for writing.
The book is about a young man who moves away from home in early years to be a sailor. After a few years the boat suffer a shipwreck and everyone dies, except Robinson, who’s being washed up on a shore. Despite everything he manages to bring a gun and some clothes to the island. After some time he meet a friend, a native, whom he gives the name Friday.
The book is typical for the enlightenment. Robinson Crosue is what the enlightenment is all about. Curious, smart and effective. But the book is anyhow kind of special for the time. Robinson treats Friday abnormally well, after all he is a native and a non christian. Of course Robinson teach him English and kristnar him.
