Lord Byron, a liar, a genius, a bad husband, a baron, a poet in the 1800-century.

The romanticism had begun and the upplysningen was over. The story of Lord Byron as one of the most famous poet is long. But the story of his relationship with his wife is even longer. I am going to summarize the interesting parts of his life.

The 22 January 1788, George Gordon Byron was born. He was a son to Catharine Gordon and John Byron. He was born without a foot that wasn't fully developed. This made it hard for Byron to learn to walk. The family lived in England but soon after George Byron's birth his father left the country and left his family without money. The childhood years of George Byron became poor and hard. As a child he red much books, the Old Testament and a lot of philosophy. After ten years his uncle died and Byron inherited his property and name. Now he had the possibility to educate himself. The school years weren't that easy to manage and he found it interesting to traveling to see the Mediterranean. There he wrote his first poem "Hours of Idleness". The poem became famous in the neighborhood. But he became even more known when he swam over Bosporus. Now he became to write more poems, for example the Giaour, Childe Harold's Pilgrimage and Lara. He wrote about his feelings and whatever was concerning him in the moment. It could be ironic, exotic, critical or original.

He was famous and coveted by women. His great looks, charismatic sound and his feeling for love was what the most women wanted. He felled in love with a baroness named Anne Isabella Milbanke. Soon after Anne gave birth to their first daughter many scandals about their marriage became known for the public. Some journalists sad that it was Anne who wrote the poems for Byron and that he only gave her ideas about the stories. In the early 1700 women's situation in the society had become to change. The real change had started much earlier but on the countryside the spread of changes was low. That was the reason why Anne let her husband publish her poems sad a journalist. But since it is 200 years ago it's hard to prove. Lord Byron wrote a letter about himself, his wife and the rumors that were spread but it was only to be shown for his family when he had died. Anne and Lord Byron applied for divorce and after that Anne was told that Lord Byron had a love affair with his stepsister. He directly left the country and settled down in Italy. In 1816 he began a journey to Morocco. There he got inspiration of their old culture and African way of living for his writing. In this year's he wrote with a more nonchalant touch in his poems. One example of a work he wrote in Morocco is the poem "Lara" There he was often seen with Percy and Mary Shelly such as political engaged people.

Lord Byron died 1824 only 36 years old in fever.

He did not only wrote about his relationship with women or his personal feelings, he also took influences of primitivism, classicism and sexualize that affected his work.  The women's situation in the society, the noblemen's life, climate or christian conflicts was other subjects that he was interested in. He depicts realism with a mix of grace and darkness. He wrote mysterious and enigmatic. He brought something new to the cities in England. Another writer was Walter Scott which wrote like Byron but his poems was so long that people got tired to read it.

The three philosophers Rousseau, Montesquieu and Voltaire was an inspiration to lord Byron. On one hand he wanted to make the message that Montesquieu and Rousseau talked about clear and make people understand the importance in their message. On the other hand he did not like Voltaire's ideas and he wrote against his opinion in his poems.

In the end of the 17 century the literary romantic epoch begun to grow since a new way of thinking and living had started. The development of the philosophy resulted in an ideal of a genius. I genius who lived with focus of himself, listened to his heart, who did what his heart thought was right. Within this new way of thinking the darkness and past also become interesting to discover. This was a new literary way to write. This was the epoch of romanticism and Lord Byron was become to be called the genius of this epoch.

His poem "Darkness" is one of the most famous poems of Byron. He is used a good English with beautiful words that sometimes is hard to understand. He ended the poem with "She is the universe" which says that he valued the power of love. He wrote about most things and had poem in almost every category.

Darkness

The waves were dead; the tides were in their grave
The moon their mistress had expired before;
The winds were withered in the stagnant air,
And the clouds perish'd; Darkness had no need
Of aid from them. She was the universe.

She walks in the beauty

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven...
