He formed his own film company called Lucasfilm Ltd., in 1973 and four years later released the first Star Wars film. The Star Wars film series has spawned lots of other media such as books, television series, lots of video games and comic books and this shows just how popular this series has been.

The animation studio Pixar that has made movies like Toy Story, Finding Nemo and WALL-E originally came from Lucasfilm. If Lucasfilm hadn't developed such ground-breaking technology in the making of Star Wars, the world might not have gotten to enjoy watching these amazing animated movies.
