20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is a interesting and thrilling book and has its start in 1866. The book is written by Jules Verne who also wrote a whole list of famous works, including both “Around the World in 80 Days” and “From the Earth to the Moon. Jules surely enjoys writing about the nature and its secrets and he was very fascinated by the science at that time.
The book starts off with Mr. Aronnax who narrates the story. Mr. Aronnax receives a letter which invites him to go on board the ship Abraham Lincoln. Their quest is to find what most people call a shifting reef.
After hours and days of searching the Abraham Lincoln is thinking about turning back. When they start their journey home, one of the crewmembers spots a whale looking creature raising above the surface. They fire a harpoon but the attempt fails and the creature rams their ship. Mr. Aronnax, a crewmember and one of the slaves aboard the ship fall into the water. The ship flees away in panic and ignores the men overboard.
But they don’t have to wait for long, suddenly the creature shows up again and it turns up to be a ship, a submarine. They are brought onboard and introduced with the Captain, called Nemo. Nemo tells them about the ship that has got the name Nautilus. Later they are going to get through a lot of adventures, among them they will be fighting an octopus and being attacked by sharks.
The book is really entertaining and never gets boring. The plot is also very fascinating and must have required a lot of imagination from the author.
Jules describes each page with feeling that really gives you...
