Chicken Run is a movie about hens on a farm that wants nothing more then to escape. The leader is Ginger and she tries every stunt possible to get out of there. But she gets caught over and over again. It isn’t until the American rooster Rocky arrives crashing in to the farm that Ginger get the idea of flying away from there. Rocky, who injured his wing in the crash, refuses to help them but he is willing to help them in exchange for a hiding place.
The hens live in a tough world, the ones who doesn’t lay any eggs is of to the chops and everyone except Babs know that the ones who go won’t return. Babs on the other hand thinks everyone that goes away is only on holiday. Mr Tweedy suspects that the hens are up to something but Mrs Tweedy tells him that hens can’t do anything.

To be able to fly the hens have to go thru boot camp. Working out all day long. Meanwhile, when they are training, Mrs Tweedy is buying a pie maker with the purpose to make chicken pies, the egg business isn’t going very well. On their weekly egg check they can see that Babs haven’t laid any eggs and every hen gets horrified of what’s next. But instead of bringing her to the chops they measure her waist and then starts to give them all extra food. Everybody just stuff them selves with food except Ginger, she can there’s something wrong. She makes the other hens stop eating cause that would make them heavier and prevent them from being able to fly When Mrs Tweedy tests the machine she uses Ginger but when Rocky goes to rescue her they destroy the machine. However, Mrs Tweedy immediately starts on the repairs. Time is running out for them.

The hope of being able to fly is almost gone when they get the idea of building an aeroplane from Fowler who was in the RAF, Royal Air Force. To get the supplies, Rocky makes a deal with the rats that say that he will give them all eggs he lays and he’ll get the supplies they need. The rats are so thickheaded that they don’t understand that roosters can’t lay any eggs....
