The little prince

The book The little prince is about the narrator and the little prince from planet Asteroid 325 or what humans call planet-asteroid B-612. The narrator tells he has always had problems with adult, when he was younger he wanted to draw but the adults told him to give up the dream and be something better.

 The narrator is an airplane pilot, in one of his flight he crashes and lands on the Sahara desert. After a while on the Sahara desert a little mysterious boy shows up. The little prince tells the narrator, the pilot, how he came to earth and how he lived in his planet. The little prince had to go through six different planets before landing on earth, the persons he met on each planet were a king, a vain man, a drunkard, a businessman, a lamplighter and last a geographer. 

The little prince and the pilot spend some days in the desert until they run out of water and had to find some water, on the way finding water the little prince meets a fox and a snake. The fox teaches him the important things in life are only visible into the heart. The little prince remembers that the time he's spending away from his rose is making the rose more special to him. To get back to his planet the little prince has to let the snake bite him. The narrator then writes this story in memory of his friend the little prince. 

I actually was surprised by the plot since i didn't know what the book was about, at first i didn't know what to expect. A friend told me about the book and that I had to read it. I listened to him and read the book for the first time when i went on vacations, one of the best books I have read. One year later i read the book again, still the same story but differents views in life, in total I have read this book around three or four times. 

Each time i read the book i have gotten through different things in my life, the book teaches me new thing every time. I still find the story interesting because it is educative and beautiful.

The theme of the book is friendship, love and trust. When the little prince meets a wise fox, the fox teaches him a lesson about friendship, love and trust. The little prince then realises that he loves his rose and that his rose is very unique and special because of the bond and friendship they have together. In the beginning the reader doesn't exactly know what the story is about because its a third person narration. The more you read the story the better you get the theme.

The language in the book is figurative, the writer use a lot of metaphors and similes, one example is that it is one drawing in the book of a boa that swallowed an elephant, the drawing is a metaphor for the different perceptions in life. An example of smiles is when the pilot crashes as he says "I was more isolated than a man shipwrecked on a raft in the middle of the ocean". He is telling how alone he is without using the words ‘’I'm alone’’.

The language that is used in the book is very easy and good because it's actually for kids. It means that children are able to understand the words however they may not understand the meaning behind. Its kinda hard to know the exact message of the book since everyone receives a different message. In my opinion it's about the open mindedness of children, the author wants the reader to find the key to understanding and to happiness. 

The book has changed my thoughts about kids perspective and imagination. When we grow old we have other things in our mind and our imagination isn't anymore like when we were kids. It has taught me that when someone is really special it doesn't matter how many other people I meet because that one person will still be the most important and special. It's like the little prince and his rose, he walked through thousand of roses but he still remembered his little rose on his planet because that one rose was really special to him.
